I'M SO HUNGRY - SECRET CAFE

SUNDAY DEC 12th 2010
I'M SO HUNGRY
Brunch  made with love by Sarah Adorable and Aleesa Cohene .

For one special day only THE FAB LAB became an Olympia Washington style "SECRET CAFE".
For those unfirmiliar with the phenomenon, one academic type described it as "nomadic kitchens with migratory cooks" that "can break free from a constraining menu".

Secret Cafe's are often designed to raise money for a certain cause, and what makes it a "secret" is because it usually takes place in a house or loft or somewhere its not "supposed to".

For THE FAB LAB it's about creating a unique environment where people can enjoy food, friendship, community, unconventional dining and  art, all at the same time.

NICKY CLICK and ATHENS BOYS CHOIR LIVE

FRI DEC 10th
NICKY CLICK and ATHENS BOYS CHOIR LIVE

This was the biggest little show at THE FAB LAB to this date. Every technical difficulty that could have happened did.

Turned out to be a blessing in disguise because before we got Nicky's instrumentals working, she treated us to one of the best accapella freestyles I have ever heard in my life.  She went as far as to take it to the max. Encouraging audience members to sing with her.

The sound was wack, but if any one can make a distorted  mic and crackly speakers sound magical and appropriate, its Nicky Click. It was especially a treat to have Nicky Click performing here, because it was acutally her 6 year old nefew Gabe who gave THE FAB LAB its name.

Athens Boys Choir rocked the house  too. This was the first ever show in Berlin for this Gerorgia based Mulit Media, Transgendered, Jewish, Comedy Rapper known by some of his fans as THE EZ HEEB. He was honest, charming, and entertaining. The high point of the show for me was seeing the video from his real Bat Mitzvah . Hilarious. Way to embrace the past!
This show definitely felt like an Olympia Washington house party.

MARY OCHER LIVE

Hello World,

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to THE FAB LAB for the MARY OCHER show.
(Badkat, Alexis, Lisa and Henri Steegy, Margarita, Tim, Liad, Peter Backer, Julia, Muriel, and everyone else who's names I didn't get) It was so so so so so lovely.

She  was playing with this amp, I don't know if it was almost out of batteries or what, but it made her sound like she was coming through an old timey radio tuned in to a station being transmitted from outer space.

I don't know how to explain her, a little folky, but dark, and hypnotic in a way. Intense. When I asked Sarah Adorable and Aleesa Cohene  to throw out some adjectives to describe Mary's performance they responded Electrifying, Chilling, and Inspirational.

Here is a glimpse
